After a conversation with some passionate Super Smash Brothers fans we've made yet another change to the tournament format. Since Brawl seems to be more competitive than we originally thought we will be switching the format of main event to a 1-vs-1 double elimination bracket. We will be offering a 2-vs-2 tournament for both Brawl and Melee before the scheduled main event. The 2-vs-2 tournament will be held at 3pm on both Friday and Saturday. To be eligible to enter the 2-vs-2 tournament you just need to pay the entry fee for the main 1-vs-1 tournament. The prizes for the 2-vs-2 tournaments will be game time at Section 9 for the top 3 teams. Prizes for the 1-vs-1 tournaments will remain the same.

Please remember to register your name on the forums in the apportionment threads for the discounted entry fee of $10.00 per person. Walk-in entries will be $15.00 per person so register to save some money for you and your teammate!

I'd like to apologize for all these last minute changes, rest assured that future tournament details will be more organized ahead of time. Don't forget about our upcoming Counter-Strike 1.6 tournament on the 13th. I will have the details finalized soon for the 1.6 tournament but I think it's fairly safe to say that will be having a team format of 3-vs-3 and pretty standard rules/maps.

Finally here's the details I've been promising. Due to popular demand we will be holding the main tournament on Saturday, which will be held on Super Smash Brothers Brawl. We will be holding a secondary Tournament the day before (Friday) for Super Smash Brothers Melee. The format will be 2v2 for Brawl and 1v1 for Melee due to how the two games balance. These tournaments have had their times pushed back to around 6:00 PM. Check out our forums for more information on rules for both games.

I'd also like to announce our new pricing for tournament fees. Walk-in entries will now be $15 a person but if you preregister for the tournament ahead of time (at least one day prior to the actual event) the fee will be $10 per person. To register you need to post your name in the proper event thread on our forums. If you are uncomfortable posting your name in an open forum then you can either private message me on the forum or e-mail me directly.

Finally there is some pictures up from the tournament and video is coming soon. Don't forget to leave feedback since we are a customer driven business!

Section 9 Cyber Cafe is now open on our posted hours. Drop by and check us out for a reduced rate during the month of November. Read this news post for more information.

Thanks to everyone who showed up yesterday and participated in the first Section 9 hosted tournament! If you could take a couple of seconds and leave some feedback we'd really appreciate it. I know I can speak for the rest of the staff when I say we're really pleased with our opening night. It was great to see and meet all the new faces and we were happy to see some of the old faces drop by and show support.

Congratulations to team Frogshorts, our first place team, which was made up of Ethan Worley, Erik Fjelde, Mason Heinrich, and Matt. Thanks again to all the teams that made this tournament possible, I hope everyone had as good of a time as the staff did!

We have a topic up on the forums in regards to our Super Smash Bros. tournament which will be held next friday. Please vote in the poll for which game you'd like to hold the tournament on and any format comments you might have. We will have a rule-set and more information on the format of the tournament posted later today.
